The cosmic celebration at the uniting of loved ones, on the day of Jesus’ return, is something every child of God looks forward to. Sorrows now past, only exuberant joy will dominate the air with electric senses of praise and gratitude.
Those lost to death in this life are raised anew to greet, again, the child, the mother, father, sibling and friend. In the twinkling of an eye we are transformed into newness of life.
Within the perfection of body and form we recognize still the one we have known, the one who is uniquely them. No more wrinkles or deformities. In every way, we are what we had hoped for. Great and grand, the reunion that never ends!
As I was musing over these thoughts, I began to exercise my imagination on the first time I would see Jesus. Have you ever thought about what it will be like to see Jesus for the first time? Will you be timid, speechless, or surprised at how different He looks compared with how you imagined Him?
In the midst of all my musings an epiphany of thought came clear. For all who know Him here, there will be no new introduction or adjustments. We will immediately recognize the familiar voice, His touch, the accepting smile. What began here is only the beginning of what we will come to know as He spreads His arms open wide, embracing us with laughter and a, “Welcome home!”
Welcome home!
